South Congress

Posted in Unspecified
I walked around South Congress Avenue last Saturday until the wind gave me a headache. I was able to take these three photos, way less and much simpler than I had intended.

I can spell contre-jour but not "sillohuette".

Fun with curves.

Posted in Unspecified
i was really bored at work so i decided to mess with some pictures i took in europe.
all i did to these pictures was use the magic wand on the sky and use curves on that part then invert the selection and use curves on the rest.
i think the results were very nice and unique.
what do you guys think?

most of these were rejects. so the fact that i got anything decent out of them is a miracle. the last one needs a little work around the trees.

HDR

There is this neat technique making the rounds: bracket three exposures and let photoshop combine them to get increased exposure latitude. It's called High Dynamic Range.

I can accomplish this with layers and layer masks, but CS3 has made it so much easier.

Here's the before and after of the Frost Bank Tower.

After merging them.

And after upping the contrast and cleaning up a bit.

Taken on Thanksgiving day.

Used the "Graphic pen" filter, upped the contrast (a lot-have I mentioned I hate light-colored walls?)

I seem to have found a fast, simple solution to smoothing skin and giving a "painterly" effect.

These imported photo magazines are really paying off.
